1. Born for Brewing! - This grain mill is for homebrewing beer, crushes the grain, malt, and barley more precisely with its 8 calibration knob to adjust the spacing of the rollers from 0.025 to 0.1 inch, allowing the brewer to release the malted sugars stored inside grains without ruining the husks. Please note it can not be used to crush corns, coffee beans, soybeans, or sugarcanes, and can not mill grains into powder

2. Grinding Modes - You can either manually mill the grains by the labor-saving long crank handle, or attach your low speed 1/2" or 3/8" electric drill to the end of the drive shaft which has an 8mm hex socket, combining with bearing rollers for easy crushing

FAQs

Can I use the MaggieFrames malt mill to crush other grains or beans?

The MaggieFrames grain mill is designed exclusively for brewing malted barley and similar grains. It should not be used for corn, coffee beans, soybeans, or sugarcane, as these materials can damage the rollers or affect consistency. The mill is optimized for malt and grain crushing, not for producing powdered flour or fine textures.

How do I adjust the roller gap on this malt mill for homebrewing?

The MaggieFrames malt crusher features an eight-step calibration knob that allows precise roller spacing between 0.025″ and 0.1″ (0.64–2.54 mm). Adjust the gap based on your desired crush size to ensure optimal sugar extraction without shredding husks. A uniform gap helps improve lautering and final beer clarity for homebrew enthusiasts.

Can the grain mill be powered by a drill, and what type is compatible?

Yes, the MaggieFrames grain mill can be operated manually or with a power drill. It supports low-speed electric drills with a 1/2″ or 3/8″ chuck, fitting the 8 mm hex shaft securely. Using a slow-speed drill ensures steady torque and reduces wear on the roller bearings, making the crushing process faster and more efficient.

What maintenance should I perform to keep the malt mill in good condition?

After each homebrewing session, brush residual grain from the hopper and rollers. Avoid using water or solvents; instead, wipe with a dry cloth to prevent corrosion. Periodically check M6 screws on the steel base for tightness and oil the shafts lightly if needed. This care ensures smooth rotation and extends the service life of your MaggieFrames grain crusher.
