FAQs

Is the magnetic strength of this frame strong enough for thick materials?

Yes. The MaggieFrame 6.5″ × 6.5″ (165 × 165 mm) magnetic embroidery hoop uses industrial-strength magnets that securely hold heavy and multi-layered materials such as jackets, leather, and quilted fabrics. It ensures the fabric remains tight and stable on BAI Mirror embroidery machines without slipping or shifting during high-speed stitching.

Should the stabilizer be placed inside the magnetic frame or floated underneath?

You can use either method, depending on your project. For most fabrics, place the stabilizer together with the fabric inside the MaggieFrame embroidery frame for best support. However, floating the stabilizer beneath the bottom ring works well for thick or hard-to-hoop items used on BAI Mirror-1201 or M22 machines, avoiding unnecessary stretching.

Why is my fabric puckering during embroidery with the magnetic frame?

Fabric puckering usually results from the wrong type or weight of stabilizer, not hoop tension. For knits or stretchy fabrics, use a cut-away stabilizer and avoid pulling the fabric too tightly when setting it into the MaggieFrame machine embroidery hoop. Proper stabilizer choice keeps stitching flat and even on BAI Mirror embroidery machines.

Is the magnetic hoop heavier than standard hoops, and will it affect my machine?

The MaggieFrame magnetic hoop is slightly heavier due to its strong magnets, but it has been engineered within safe operational tolerances of BAI embroidery machines, including Mirror-1201 and M22. It will not cause extra strain on the motor or carriage. The added weight helps improve stability during embroidery for consistent results.
