Can I 'float' small items like a tie or sock using this MaggieFrame 3.9″ × 12.8″ (100 × 320 mm) hoop?
Yes. This size magnetic embroidery frame works perfectly for floating small items. Hoop a piece of sticky stabilizer or base fabric in your MaggieFrame hoop for Brother PR600, PR655, or PR1000E, then place your small accessory on top. This method allows secure stitching without forcing delicate fabrics into a tight hoop.
Are there cases when a traditional screw hoop is better than a magnetic embroidery frame?
While magnetic embroidery hoops like MaggieFrame are ideal for about 95% of embroidery projects, a traditional hoop can still be useful for extremely thick or rigid materials. For heavy-duty fabrics or dense boot tongues that require intense “drum-skin” tension, a screw hoop provides added stability. For everyday garments, the magnetic frame is superior in both efficiency and hoop marks prevention.
Why does my fabric pucker at the center even when it’s hooped tightly with the magnetic frame?
Fabric puckering is usually related to stabilizer type rather than hoop tension. To prevent puckering when using your MaggieFrame embroidery hoop for Brother PR1000E or PR600, select the correct stabilizer weight — for example, a cut-away stabilizer for knits. Ensure the fabric isn’t stretched before hooping so the embroidery stays smooth and flat throughout stitching.
How should I store my MaggieFrame magnetic embroidery hoop when not in use?
Store your magnetic embroidery hoops safely by keeping the top and bottom parts snapped together. This prevents accidental magnet detachment and protects alignment surfaces. Avoid placing the frame near sensitive electronics, magnetic storage devices, or credit cards. Storing it flat in a dry area preserves magnet strength and keeps the hoop clean for extended use.
